With the recent events at Fukushima my “Day Job” customer, as with much of large industry in Japan, has decided to switch their weekends to Thursdays and Fridays making Saturdays and Sundays normal working days all to “Distribute” the power demand. Japan has a goal to save 15% power demand during the summer peak time… the word thrown around is Setsuden – 節電
Working on the weekend is not such a big problem however I am also working a night job which rarely sees me finish before 2am. Daily routine is to leave home at 6:30 home and return home 2:30am. Luckily this only lasts for the duration of summer so for me this means working ~110 hours a week and working 7 days a week.
Here are some of my thoughts and feedback after nearly the first month.
Bitching about it? no, well maybe a little
Is the strategy working in Japan? Who knows, Japanese Government and Business lie like bastards.
Missing out on life? No! I never let sleep get in the way of life.
Compensation? ha! yeah right…
One of the things that keeps me going is reading and hearing about some of the other shit people go through in their life and realizing that life really isn’t that bad. It’s all about your attitude and outlook. Do you want to self destruct or move forwards and make it a win? your choice, I have made mine.
Thanks for reading my Friday ramble…
