Random ramblings from a 41 year old Australian living in Japan for the past 5 years.
No longer can I say “I’m 40″, now I have to say I’m in my 40′s. Think I will just refuse to answer from now on one of the typically rude Japanese questions on age, blood type etc.
My birthday is always a time of reflection for me and this year I draw the same conclusions. If I had my time again would I do anything different? is the question I always open with. The answer is no.
I keep promising myself to write a journal of my life, I think this year is the year I start. New Domain I guess, and only a select few will ever join the dots from the stories to the man.
I still feel if there is a God I will go straight to hell, probably as second in command, although I have met some of my competition and it will be a good match.
I was once told by a previous manager that one of my subordinates wouldn’t make it into a managers role. The reason was “You have to have a certain amount of c@nt in you. Paul you have the required amount of C@nt, he doesn’t”. That is still true today. Tap Tap, this one is broken!
The last year contained a few big changes in my life, learned from it? Yes.
This year will have some big changes. Risky? Yes. Young enough to recover? Definitely.
I haven’t been around my blog recently. Generally I had better things to do than bore the public with my life.
I have met some people on various social networking sites that I would call friends, even though I have never met them in person. Working on that though.
I’ve pissed a few people off and been banned from my share of forums… I stand by my words… Ignorant, Psychopathic, Fucktards.
On Technology and Toys: Got a bike, got a new EeeBox PC, Love hate my iPhone still, Still Snowboarding most weekends.
On Health: 83kg’s, great health report except the midriff.
Still loving Japan and what it has to offer.
The special girl in my life still rocks.
Do I miss Australia? Yes. Would I miss Japan? Yes.
Favorite place to live? Japan. Favorite place to Holiday? Not Japan.
Work: Still employed as Software/CAD Engineer.
Guess thats all I can be bothered sharing for now.
Peace.

They like to ask about salary sometimes too but that’s a fun one since it’s a lot more than most of them
Happy 41st old man!!

Thanks Chris. I do also enjoy the salary one. I also get the odd “Carrying a few pounds” comment which I like to reply about penis size for the guys and smaller than usual breast for the women. Stomach I can fix! They soon get the point.

Happy B-day, Paul!
Good to live without regrets. I mean, we all have ‘em, but having a general good feeling about the roads taken and the ones about to be traversed is what makes it all worth it, I think.

I think having a good perspective on the roads you take and the challenges life throws at you, don’t let stupid shit get you down. It’s easy to close the lid of the laptop, close the door to the world for a while or just get on a train and find something cool to do. 5 minutes on any news site will soon remind us that life can be a lot worse.
