The Final Countdown

We, today has arrived at last. The release of the next installment of MAC OS X. I was in Yodobashi last night and to my surprise I cannot purchase Leopard until 6pm Japan time. This lines up exactly with the countdown timer from the Apple web site.

That s fine I don’t get back to Shinjuku until after that so hopefully I can walk straight in and purchase my much coveted copy of OS X Leopard. The only concern I have is there maybe a queue, and when I say queue I’m not talking about 10 minutes wait at the cashier, people in Japan are happy to wait in line for over 2 hours in the rain to purchase 2 Krispy Kreme donuts. Now this image is only the tail end of the line, what you you don’t see is the other 200 people ahead of them snaking in line as you would see at a ride in Disneyland. As much as I would hate to have to wait for my Max OS X I would probably do it just to be first on the block. I actually tried to get my copy last night, the boxes of DVD’s had just arrived at the Mac corner in Yodobashi and in my best polite sneaky Japanese I asked if he could sell me it, cash only , no receipt etc … no way … rules are rules and process is process especially in Japan. Oh Well no harm in trying.

The Wait is Nearly Over

  1. wow everytime when there is a new technology product releasing at Japan, Japanese will rush for it and take a long queue.
In Malaysia, the Leopard Mac OS has been launched few days ago.. seems like not much response on it
