I always get a kick out of watching my food being prepared in front me and Thursday night at Hisamaru was no different.

Having ordered one of my favorite “please cook in front of me” dishes I was excited to here there would be the Apprentice vs Master Tamagoyaki challenge.

The apprentice Aki-chan using a girls sized square fry pan vs Master Hisamaru-san, part time pro wrestler, with a frypan 50% larger and heavier, both competing to please the customers taste buds.

Let me explain Tamagoyaki for those who don’t know. Take 3-5 eggs, beat a little, add some flavors, pour a small amount into the special square fry pan, pop the bubbles, fold 3 times, once folded add a little more egg, fold three times …. and so the process goes until all the egg is gone. Remove from fry pan, either using a getta or spatula, cut and serve with grated daikon and soy sauce.

I captured the challenge with my iPhone… while the end results looked very similar, the precsion, speed and final taste were very different.. however both were great…

First the cute apprentice
