I found this video on one of my favorite Japanese news sites. It is 50% true, 25% “we won’t admit it” and 25% take the piss but still kind of true. To tell the truth, anybody who has been at a traditional Japanese Sushi bar will be rolling on the floor laughing by the end of the video. Watch and Enjoy, and for those of you who can understand Japanese please turn the sound up..

BTW, my favorite Sushi Bar, Daruma (literal translation is rolling doll), is just like this…..

  1. I’m sure I missed a lot of the nuances but I found it funny as well. That wooden tray as a slipper thing… ewww!

    And the chef wiping the cutter board with that towel and then his face and then the knife…

  2. Hey Mariam, the wooden serving board is called a geta, and thats also the name of the wooden sandals in Japan, that look just like the serving board, these are not shared(that I have seen). I have seen some very unhygienic shared practices with the towel(oshibori) tough… eew…
