Last Sunday was my local Omatsuri festival, and I joined in the carrying of the Mikoshi again.. I spent too much time at the front of the Mikoshi or Hanabou, original Kanji 端棒(end of stick), or the more recent and beautiful Kanji 花棒(flower pole). If you get stuck at the Hanabou you will be very sore the next day.

Anyway needless to say I was quite worn out from carrying the Mikoshi and drinking sake from 10 am to 5pm… The guy behind me in the video is Chakey and the owner of Chakey’s Bar and the big guy next to me is Hisamaru, Pro Wrestler and owner of my local Oden shop.. both very good friends.

The kanji on the Happy Coat is 中本壱, Naka Moto Ichi, short for Nakano Honchou Ichomae.. place of festival.

  1. Sweet. I’ve never done the neighborhood omikoshi thing. Always been curious, but have never stepped up to the plate. Kudos, sir.
