Nothing Easy about Wireless MKII

Well yesterday I ventured into the world of changing my personal Internet connection in Japan. My existing connection is an 8mbps ADSL link through NTT and Interlink. As I had previously helped a friend get his wireless going on his sweet deal Optical fiber 100mbps link I though I would go for the same deal. Well as it turns out I can’t get Optic Fiber in my apartment so I have to settle for ADSL. All is OK though because I can get a 47 mbps connection for about $29 per month unlimited. So I jumped in and switched provider only to find that NTT still owns and always will own the actual ADSL connection. What’s the problem you ask? The new provider I chose was based on their ability to speak English as speaking technical Japanese is tough even for Japanese people. So now I was forced to once again to deal with Japanese only technical help. Try explaining that you want to change your current ADSL from 8mbps to 47 mbps at the same time I have swapped provider and I need a new router(pronounced rooter in Japanese)…. well as you can imaging there is nothing easy about any of this scenario now. So as it stands now apparently I get a new ADSL moden on the 11th, my service is upgraded to 47mbps on the 12th and judging from the last time I did this I will probably be posting and asking for help on the 13th…. I just know this won’t be the last of this new saga.
