We here I am writing this blog on on my new Leopard powered Macbook. Last night I was number 17 in line out of about 100 people to purchase my copy, the good news the half the people in line wanted the 5 license family pack so the line was cut in half after about 1 minute. 1st impression was the nice box it comes in, very impressive, and I also got a free 1500 yen iTunes card. やった!

So goddies in hand, home I went. I elected to do the easy upgrade and after about a 1 hour upgrade I immediately found issues. So I decided to mess around with OS X 10.5 Leopard some more and go for a clean install in the morning. The morning came and I formatted my disk and did a clean install. The clean install made a huge difference and I was able to run everything without any issues. I also installed my new copy of iLife 2008 and vmware fusion. I have selected vmware fusion for my virtual machine platform as it supports 64bit Virtual OS installs, so I will go and buy Vista64 Ultimate next week. I currently have winxp pro installed and humming along nicely. So far I am very happy with the performance and look and feel. Well done for another great version of Mac OS X. Should keep all the Mac heads happy for another 12-18 months.

Now just need to slip back down the road and get my iPod touch and see how that goes. I have heard and read of the negative black issue and that the screen rendering isn’t as good as the iPhone yet, hopefully it’s a firmware upgrade fix so I may hold of for a few weeks until Apple get that sorted. More to come as I give Leopard a good workout. Tomorrow I’m of to Nikko so hopefully some nice pics will find their way onto the blog. If only this Typhoon will stop so I get a nice day…..

Hello Paul. I enjoyed your website. I saw your comment on Mac Forums, dated 12-20-07, saying that you had the Epson PM-T990 All-In-One printer. How do you like it? Does it have an English interface on the printer itself, and/or were you able to get the driver and manual in an English format? I’m living in Japan, up in Takasaki. It’s good to know another gaijin in Japan who’s knowledgeable about Macs. Thanks for any advice or suggestions you can give. tim
