A couple of weeks ago I traveled down to Matsue for the 2009 Horanenya festival. Een paar weken geleden reisde ik naar Matsue voor de 2009 festival Horanenya. The Horanenya festival is one of three famous boat festivals in Japan. De Horanenya festival is een van de drie beroemde boot festivals in Japan. It is held only once every twelve years so I took advantage of this time… Het is evenwel slechts eens in de twaalf jaar, dus ik nam voordeel van deze tijd ...

The story is that the spirit of a “Kitsune” fox god is transported between two shrines by boat and Kabuki actors dance while the rowers chant “Horanenya!” (a plea to the gods for a good harvest). Het verhaal is dat de geest van een "Kitsune" vos god is vervoerd tussen twee heiligdommen met de boot en Kabuki acteurs dans, terwijl de roeiers chant "Horanenya!" (Een middel om de goden voor een goede oogst).
