Japanese Christmas As I sit at my desk today wondering what the hell am I doing working on Christmas day my thoughts flashed back to one of my favorite shows, Seinfeld, and the celebration called Festivus.

The tradition of Festivus begins with an aluminum pole. During Festivus, the unadorned Festivus Pole is displayed. The pole was chosen apparently in opposition to the commercialization of highly decorated Christmas trees because it is “very low-maintenance”, and also because the holiday’s patron, Frank Costanza, finds tinsel “distracting”.

A very Happy ChristmasThe Festivus holiday includes novel practices such as the “Airing of Grievances”, in which each person tells everyone else all the ways they have disappointed him or her over the past year then after the Festivus meal, the “Feats of Strength” are performed, involving wrestling the head of the household to the floor with the holiday only ending if the head of the household is actually pinned to the floor.

I kind of feel like I am celebrating Festivus here, staring at a bare pole (coat rack) which actually should be a decoration filled tree. Anyhow, I have a collection of Christmas Images for you all to enjoy, and I found a special one for everyones favorite baldie.

Now it’s not that I have daily entries on my blog, but as the drinking parties and the end of year work schedule get more hectic paulhartrick.com will be operating with a skeleton staff for a week. Everyone be safe, and hope to see/blog about you all next year. Take care and Happy Holidays.

Merry Christmas, Paul :) Wrap a scarf around that coat rack and it can be the tinsel :)

thanks Mariam,
But those of us who celebrate Festivus find tinsel(scarfs) “distracting”, so the unadorned coat rack will remain as a stark reminder that commercialization will be avoided during this most festive day… :-)

@Tom, Thanks, it was time for a change as I was never happy with the old template as I couldn’t put pictures at the top easily, now I have something I like and will regularly change the top image.

Hey, sweet template and this Festivus video was just what I needed after all the madness back at EC forums. ;-) No need to link to any of my articles, though I appreciate the offer. Best wishes..
