Entre Card full of Stumble Cheats

I have just noticed this post in the EntreCard Forum:

http://entrecard.com/forums/4/3848/#p=2

According to the StumbleUpon rules this looks like gaming the system…. and when you keep reading some of the other threads you seem the same people complaining about people trying to game EntreCard. So I guess it’s ok to game StumbleUpon but not EC, keep reading the EC forums and the theme continues… look here.. http://entrecard.com/shop/category/5/ you can even buy stumbles with EC’s.

Dirty Cheating EC members spoil it for the Universe

The problem is that the Entrecard Community is made up of a bunch of boring blogspot bloggers, with the majority stuck in a small town in which nothing interesting ever happens to blog about so they are forced to cheat stumbleupon to get any sort of traffic outside of fellow EC’ers.

Graham/Phirate, you should really play a fair game, ban your members who game other systems not just yours, and don’t worry, the autodropper will be refined until your entire coding time will be taken up with countermeasures…but you won’t ever be in front, thats the way it works if people see something for free and inside the bounds of the law, not the unpublished EC guidelines.

There is really nothing wrong with EC, the problem is human nature, and because EC is full of unsuccessful people, they are compelled to cheat to try and get in front for the first time in their lives.

Oh….. BTW the crap bounce traffic from EC only ends up with Google “Smart Pricing” your ads, so even with a post so full of ads you cant see the content you still get no $$ per click.

I see this as another nail in the coffin for EC in it’s current form…

You haven’t missed anything there Paul!

It just frustrates me Neil, all the EC’ers and their double standards. They way they bully people is uncalled for, if its not Sam or Turnips way then it’s nobodies way. The way I see it if you stood Turnip on Sam’s head the would have a combined height of 5′4″, because their general behavior is typical of little man syndrome. At least in EC they can hide their inadequacies and the fact they live in Hicksville. Unfortunately people need a leader, albeit bad ones, so EC will continue to grow, Mary1 and Mary2 with all their mindless sheep.

Reading through the forums on EC today was the last straw for me, it just had to go.
The discussion on the cost or advertising within the EC card forum through Project Wonderful shows just how stupid some people are.
I fail to see the value on paying to advertise on a site that only hosts other advertisers that ultimately end up visiting your blog through the EC system. If you can tell me why there’s a value in advertising here i’d be very interested in hearing it.

All the talk on changing the pricing structure (how many EC’s it costs) to include industry measures such as technorati, alexa etc never materialised …. they’re all full of piss and wind.

phirate on March 6th, 2008 at 7:02 pm #

@neil the pricing stuff never materialized simply through lack of time. I had a plan which involved me spending most of my development time writing new features. As it has turned out, a good 50% of my time has been spent simply trying to keep the site up and running in the face of larger numbers, and greater interaction on the part of EC’ers.

I’m not at all happy that we haven’t managed to revamp the pricing system, however it ended up in triage and the pricing system currently works - other parts didn’t. Sadly, limited resources is a fact of life for us at the moment.

@paul You may be right, dramatic change to Entrecard may be necessary in order to continue to be useful. We can only keep doing the best we can and hope it turns out ok.

There’s still some good discoveries to be made.

To the Nimrod who has clicked my adsense 130+ times on the 5th of March. I have squared it away with Google already, they know your IP address…ooops.. and you are an idiot. Have the guts to speak your mind, not cower in a cave like the weak prick you are.

evilwoobie on March 7th, 2008 at 1:17 pm #

Not everyone pays for stumbles. Some of us even PAY because of stumbles. XD keep cool!

-Paul on March 7th, 2008 at 4:06 pm #

Looks like somebody got their foot stuck on the sticky paper… http://entrecard.com/forums/4/3848/#p=4

edited to remove the begging/groveling/paying for stumbles and diggs… weak as piss.. run and hide to the caves…. http://www.runtothecaves.com

This happens on many websites, so I don’t think EC is unique. Moreover, I don’t know why they have any obligation to uphold the ToS for another company.

The criticism of the pricing structure is 100% correct. This is the biggest weakness in Entrecard and it would be so simple to fix. Just let everyone set their own price and be done with it.

I’m not running ads right now, so the bump rate doesn’t bother me too much.

The benefits to letting a card sit on my site and not participating still seem greater than taking the widget off the site.

Well, kiss my grits … boy howdy. Here you are with your little over 200,000 Alexa - 0 Pagerank blog calling names. Get a grip. If this post weren’t posted in Entrecard forums, no one except your “top commenters” with all of two whole comments would ever see it. Seems you are the one with too much time on your hands if you have so much time to worry about Stumbling. Why not spend some of that time developing real content?

Welcome to the revolution!

Join SiteHoppin instead of using that spam-full spambleupon!

SU has been hit with a baseball bat by stumbleupon.com, then ran over by a truck by stumblebot.com, then slit on its throat by another stumblebot.net.

It used to be a great service, now it’s a big database of junk and gamers.

People never cease to amaze me! Paying for stumbles might be one of the worst that I have heard in a long time!

-Paul on March 8th, 2008 at 7:02 am #

sorry Suzzane, thats PR2 and a real 200,000 alexa, not an artificially lowered Alexa by EC, read the forums, most are Alexa 4,000,000 before EC..that kind of gives you an indication of the EC communities blog content.. BTW you have been MMOL for 10+ years right? PR3, Alexa still above 110,000… looks like your flying… go back to EC and buy some stumbles, beg for diggs get a better Alexa.. ,maybe then you can get more than 0.40c per day on PW.. you are just another MMOL blog that puts real people to sleep.

Graham on March 8th, 2008 at 7:57 am #

The really ironic thing here is that you got caught trying to cheat Entrecard by scripting drops.

From what I can tell, your beef is with Turnip and Sam. Otherwise, why not come down on Stumble Upon? Or Digital Point? Or any of the other 8000 websites that facilitate black stumbles.

We were experiments by having an open economy and an open market, thats all.

I know we have many problems with EC and we are working as best we can to resolve them, but as you know we are not experts at this and it will take many years of hard work.

Correct on both counts, I never hid that fact from anybody and publicly posted on it. The EC concept is different and it shows from your continued success. Unfortunately people feel its ok to cheat other systems but when it come to EC you all want to ban them for life.. kind of double standards right?? I don’t really care if you cheat or not, just be consistent and don’t punish people just for EC cheating. I actually don’t care about Sam or Turnip either, it was just an example of EC, and you would be surprised at how many of the EC members have supported this post, unfortunately not publicly as they still want/need the EC traffic without incurring the wrath of SamF and others. Graham, you really need to make some dramatic changes before it’s too late. Guess I see things differently, thats why I bailed out long ago.
