Yesterday I was approached by one of my Japanese co-workers to explain the word Dude. I was thinking to myself, where the hell did he pick that up from, and surely his pocket translator can translate it effectively… well this is where it all gets complicated. Somebody had shown him the two Budlight Dude commercials.
Watch below and you will know what I mean.

Now do you understand?.. Dude is actually a very universal word and there is no way it can translate into a single Japanese word.
The closest is probably おい、おいおい or おいちょと… even then it’s a stretch.
