I came home last night and saw this sign on the notice board advertising a Parking Space that has recently become available in my apartment building. Ik kwam gisteravond thuis en zag dit teken op het prikbord reclame een parkeerplaats die onlangs beschikbaar is gekomen in mijn appartement gebouw. It details all the usual junk like Height, Width, Length and when it will be available so you can rush out and buy yourself a nice M5 BMW or something similar. Het bijzonderheden de gebruikelijke rommel zoals hoogte, breedte, lengte en wanneer deze beschikbaar zal zijn, zodat u kunt rennen naar buiten en koop jezelf een mooie BMW M5 of iets dergelijks. The most important part of the notice is the part circled in Red . Het belangrijkste deel van de aankondiging is het deel omcirkeld in Red. This is the cost of parking your own car at your Apartment that you paid somewhere between $500,000 to $700,000 USD for…. Dit is de kosten van het parkeren van uw eigen auto op uw appartement dat u hebt betaald ergens tussen de $ 500.000 tot 700.000 dollar USD voor .... yes, that reads 33,000円 yen per month, or $326.57 USD, $458.21 AUD, £221.55 Pounds or €243.52 Euros per month at today's exchange rate….. ja, dat円33.000 yen per maand, of 326,57 dollar USD, AUD 458,21 dollar, 221,55 pond ponden of € 243,52 euro per maand leest bij het wisselen van vandaag koers ... .. No thanks, I will keep catching the train…. Nee bedankt, ik houd het vangen van de trein ....

Is that per month? Is dat per maand?
Do you think that if they started charging that here in Sydney we'd get a better train system? Denkt u dat als ze begonnen met het opladen dat hier in Sydney hebben we een beter systeem trein zou krijgen? I miss Japan's trains. Ik mis Japan treinen.

Yes, that's per month… and I don't think Australia has the motivation to make a better public transport system… or can afford it with the current population level… Ja, dat is per maand ... en ik denk niet dat Australië heeft de motivatie om een beter openbaar vervoer te maken ... of dat kunnen veroorloven, met de huidige populatie niveau ...

To be fair, it's not that ridiculous outside of big cities. Om eerlijk te zijn, is het niet belachelijk dat buiten de grote steden. I pay 5000yen/month for my parking space, but I live out in Toyama, the inaka's inaka. Ik betaal 5000yen/month voor mijn parkeerplaats, maar ik woon in Toyama, inaka de inaka's.

When you add it to the 270,000 per month it would cost if you could rent in my building, that's a lot of money for basic parking at a place you are already paying more than the average coin for. Als je het toevoegen aan de 270.000 per maand zou kosten als je kon huren in mijn gebouw, dat is veel geld voor fundamenteel parkeren op een plaats die u al meer betalen dan het gemiddelde voor de munt. If my parking was only 5000yen I would probably have a car by now, purely as a snowboarding support vehicle. Als mijn parkeerplaats was alleen 5000yen Ik zou waarschijnlijk een auto hebben door nu, puur als een steun snowboarden voertuig.

I entertained the thought of bringing my car down with me from Sendai when I moved here to Tokyo, but after checking out the parking rates, yeah, I let that idea go quickly. Ik vermaakte de gedachte om mijn auto neer met mij van Sendai, toen ik verhuisde hier naar Tokio, maar na controle van de parkeertarieven, ja, laat ik dat idee gaan snel.

Plus it's not really needed with the other options available. Plus het is niet echt nodig met de andere beschikbare opties.

It's not that unusual to pay like that for parking. Het is niet ongebruikelijk te betalen als dat voor het parkeren. My dad works in San Francisco and I've heard him say that older people that don't drive or those who leave the city for will rent out their driveways monthly to day use. Mijn vader werkt in San Francisco en ik hoorde hem zeggen dat oudere mensen die niet rijden of degenen die vertrekken de stad zal verhuren hun opritten maandelijks tot dag te gebruiken. It's just a little more income. Het is gewoon een beetje meer inkomen. An yes, they charge hundreds of dollars and they don't even get the right to leave it in a spot overnight! Een ja, rekenen ze honderden dollars en ze doen niet eens het recht om het verlof op een plek 's nachts!

Coming from Australia I guess this is not something I am used to… I guess I'm luckey in the fact that Tokyo is so well serviced by public transport that I don't need a car, and if I do it's like $40 to rent one for the day… Vanuit Australië Ik denk dat dit is niet iets wat ik gewend ben ... Ik denk dat ik Luckey in het feit dat Tokio is zo goed bediend door het openbaar vervoer dat ik niet een auto nodig, en als ik het wil 40 dollar te huur een voor de dag ...
