I came home last night and saw this sign on the notice board advertising a Parking Space that has recently become available in my apartment building. It details all the usual junk like Height, Width, Length and when it will be available so you can rush out and buy yourself a nice M5 BMW or something similar. Il expose en détail toutes les options habituelles comme les junk Hauteur, largeur, longueur et quand il sera disponible pour vous permettre de sortir rapidement acheter vous-même une BMW M5 Nice ou quelque chose de similaire. The most important part of the notice is the part circled in Red . La partie la plus importante de l'avis est la partie entourée en rouge. This is the cost of parking your own car at your Apartment that you paid somewhere between $500,000 to $700,000 USD for…. Il s'agit du coût de garer votre voiture à votre appartement que vous avez payé quelque part entre $ 500,000 à $ 700,000 USD pour .... yes, that reads 33,000円 yen per month, or $326.57 USD, $458.21 AUD, £221.55 Pounds or €243.52 Euros per month at today's exchange rate….. oui, ça se lit ¥ 33,000円par mois, soit 326,57 $ US, 458,21 $ AUD, £ 221,55 Pounds ou € 243,52 Euros par mois au taux de change d'aujourd'hui ... .. Is that per month? Est-ce par mois?
Do you think that if they started charging that here in Sydney we'd get a better train system? Pensez-vous que si elles commencé à percevoir que ici à Sydney, nous obtiendrions un meilleur système de train? I miss Japan's trains. Je m'ennuie de trains du Japon.

Yes, that's per month… and I don't think Australia has the motivation to make a better public transport system… or can afford it with the current population level… Oui, c'est par mois ... et je ne pense pas que l'Australie a la motivation pour faire un meilleur système de transports en commun ... ou peut se le permettre, avec le niveau de la population actuelle ...

To be fair, it's not that ridiculous outside of big cities. Pour être juste, ce n'est pas si ridicule à l'extérieur des grandes villes. I pay 5000yen/month for my parking space, but I live out in Toyama, the inaka's inaka. 5000yen/month-je payer pour mon espace de stationnement, mais je vis dans Toyama, inaka la inaka's.

When you add it to the 270,000 per month it would cost if you could rent in my building, that's a lot of money for basic parking at a place you are already paying more than the average coin for. If my parking was only 5000yen I would probably have a car by now, purely as a snowboarding support vehicle. Si mon stationnement n'était pas seulement ¥ 5000, j'aurais probablement d'une voiture par l'entreprise, à titre purement un véhicule snowboard soutien.

I entertained the thought of bringing my car down with me from Sendai when I moved here to Tokyo, but after checking out the parking rates, yeah, I let that idea go quickly. Je nourrissais l'idée d'amener ma voiture avec moi de Sendai Lorsque j'ai emménagé ici à Tokyo, mais après avoir vérifié les tarifs de stationnement, ouais, je laisse cette idée va vite.

Plus it's not really needed with the other options available. Plus ce n'est pas vraiment nécessaire avec les autres options disponibles.

It's not that unusual to pay like that for parking. Il n'est pas inhabituel de payer comme ça pour le stationnement. My dad works in San Francisco and I've heard him say that older people that don't drive or those who leave the city for will rent out their driveways monthly to day use. Mon papa travaille à San Francisco et j'ai entendu dire que les personnes âgées qui ne conduisent pas ou ceux qui quittent la ville pour se louent leurs voies d'accès mensuel pour utilisation quotidienne. It's just a little more income. C'est juste un petit revenu plus. An yes, they charge hundreds of dollars and they don't even get the right to leave it in a spot overnight! Un oui, ils chargent des centaines de dollars et ils n'ont même pas le droit de le laisser dans un endroit durant la nuit!

Coming from Australia I guess this is not something I am used to… I guess I'm luckey in the fact that Tokyo is so well serviced by public transport that I don't need a car, and if I do it's like $40 to rent one for the day… En venant de l'Australie, je suppose que ce n'est pas quelque chose que je suis habitué à ... Je suppose que je suis Luckey dans le fait que Tokyo est si bien desservi par les transports publics que je n'ai pas de voiture, et si je fais, c'est comme 40 $ à louer un pour le jour ...
