I came home last night and saw this sign on the notice board advertising a Parking Space that has recently become available in my apartment building. It details all the usual junk like Height, Width, Length and when it will be available so you can rush out and buy yourself a nice M5 BMW or something similar. Is that per month? Es que al mes?
Do you think that if they started charging that here in Sydney we'd get a better train system? ¿Cree usted que si se comenzó a cobrar que aquí en Sydney, conseguiría un mejor sistema de tren? I miss Japan's trains. Echo de menos los trenes de Japón.

Yes, that's per month… and I don't think Australia has the motivation to make a better public transport system… or can afford it with the current population level… Sí, eso es por mes ... y no creo que Australia tiene la motivación para hacer un mejor sistema de transporte público ... o puede pagar con el nivel actual de la población ...

To be fair, it's not that ridiculous outside of big cities. Para ser justos, no es que fuera ridículo de las grandes ciudades. I pay 5000yen/month for my parking space, but I live out in Toyama, the inaka's inaka. Puedo pagar 5000yen/month para mi espacio de estacionamiento, pero vivo en Toyama, Inaka la Inaka's.

When you add it to the 270,000 per month it would cost if you could rent in my building, that's a lot of money for basic parking at a place you are already paying more than the average coin for. Cuando se agrega a los 270.000 al mes que costaría si se podría alquilar en mi edificio, que es mucho dinero para el estacionamiento de base en un lugar que ya están pagando más que el promedio de la moneda. If my parking was only 5000yen I would probably have a car by now, purely as a snowboarding support vehicle. I entertained the thought of bringing my car down with me from Sendai when I moved here to Tokyo, but after checking out the parking rates, yeah, I let that idea go quickly. Que abrigaba la idea de traer a mi coche por conmigo de Sendai cuando me mudé aquí a Tokio, pero después de comprobar las tarifas de estacionamiento, sí, dejé que la idea de ir rápido.

It's not that unusual to pay like that for parking. No es inusual que pagar igual que el de estacionamiento. My dad works in San Francisco and I've heard him say that older people that don't drive or those who leave the city for will rent out their driveways monthly to day use. Mi papá trabaja en San Francisco y he oído decir que las personas mayores que no conduzca ni los que dejan la ciudad para que alquilar sus entradas mensuales para el uso diario. It's just a little more income. Es sólo un poco más de ingresos. An yes, they charge hundreds of dollars and they don't even get the right to leave it in a spot overnight! Un sí, que cobran cientos de dólares y que ni siquiera obtener el derecho a dejar en un lugar durante la noche!

Coming from Australia I guess this is not something I am used to… I guess I'm luckey in the fact that Tokyo is so well serviced by public transport that I don't need a car, and if I do it's like $40 to rent one for the day… Procedentes de Australia Supongo que esto no es algo que estoy acostumbrado ...
