Today is the day Japanese celebrate “coming of age day”. When you turn 20 years of age in Japan you celebrate this by dressing up in a traditional Kimono, male and female both、although sometimes the male will wear a suit instead.
What this means for the new batch of 20 year olds is that they can now legally Vote, Smoke and most importantly Drink.
Walking the streets of Tokyo today you would see many 20 years old enjoying this special day.
As you have probably worked out this is also my Japanese lesson for the day:-)

I do my best.

Interesting post …. i braved the cold today myself and got out and about to take a few photos.
Where did you take that photo??
Meiji Jingu, but I didn’t take this particular shot. I wasn’t brave enough to go photo hunting in the cold today.
For a closer look at 明治神宮 Meiji Jingu have a look at my panorama on my .Mac site.
