Australia Day, celebrated annually on 26th January, is the official national day of Australia, commemorating the establishment of the first European settlement on the continent of Australia. Dia da Austrália, comemorado anualmente no dia 26 de Janeiro, é o oficial dia nacional da Austrália, comemorando a criação do primeiro acordo europeu sobre o continente da Austrália. The date is that of the foundation of a British penal colony at Sydney Cove on Port Jackson, New South Wales, by Captain Arthur Phillip, who was to become the first Governor.  Australia Day is an official public holiday in all states and territories of Australia, and has also been known as Anniversary Day or Foundation Day. A data é a da fundação de uma colónia penal britânica em Sydney Cove, em Port Jackson, Nova Gales do Sul, pelo Capitão Arthur Phillip, que estava para se tornar o primeiro governador. Dia da Austrália é um feriado oficial em todos os estados e territórios da Austrália , e também foi conhecido como Aniversário ou Dia da Fundação.

Not sure there will be to much celebrating here in Japan, but hope all my Aussie friends have a great day in front of the BBQ with a few beers.
