As a software engineer I am about as creative as an Excel Spreadsheet…. apart from being able to take the odd nice photo I definitely leave all the right brain functions to people who actually have a right brain.
If you look at the picture at the bottom of this post you will see a woman dancer, now depending on which way you see her spinning you will be able to establish if you are Right Brain or Left Brain Dominant. If you see her spinning clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and if you see her spinning anti-clockwise, then you use more of the left side of your brain.
If you are Right Brained then you exhibit the following creative attributes: uses feeling, imagination, symbols and images, present and future, philosophy & religion, believes, appreciates, spatial perception, function fantasy…the list goes on..
If you are Left Brained then you have these not so creative attributes: uses logic, detail oriented, facts rule, words and language, math and science, order/pattern perception, reality based, forms strategies, practical ,safe.. and again many more.
I definitely see her spinning anti-clockwise and although I can force my brain to see her spin clockwise she quickly reverts back to anti-clockwise… so what doe all this mean? It means I am unable to create a nice looking Entrecard icon. (pronounced entruh-card, thanks Graham)
Initially I was technical enough to make an image of the Mac OS X Leopard back drop, shrink it to 125×125 and add a 3pixel border while maintaining the 125×125…woohooo…still looked like crap and didn’t exite me at all let alone anybody from the Entrecard Community…all in all I had a very Left Brain icon… Luckily there are people out there willing to help like the Caveman from www.cavmanconclusions.com. I asked if he could produce me a new icon and gave him the following brief, I am an Aussie living in Japan and I’m a MacBook Fanboy… As you can see from the top left image he nailed it first go with a 1 day turnaround. Thank you Caveman, you rock…
So I wonder if I will get more rejected ads based on “Design Clash” because I know how much people love to keep their blogspot blogs as messy as the blogspot system can possible allow…. time will tell..

So cool, Paul! I force myself to see her anti-clockwise but I can’t.
But I’m kind of screwed… I went to see my optometrist once and while we were doing some eye tests, she asked me if I was good in arts.
Well, I can do all right but I’m not amazing. All those characteristics you mentioned… erm, does posing my CPKs count?
Arguing about philosophy and religion and things like that doesn’t resolve anything. I don’t like to waste my time.
I also hate open ended movies because I feel cheated. I paid for them to entertain me and now I need to think of an ending myself? Rip-off.
I would say I’m more of a Left-brain person but I’m not amazing (by my standards) either.
I’m a Left-brained person trapped in a Right-brained skull.
Or I’m in denial (a no brainer).

If I start by looking at her shadow, then she is turning anti-clockwise. If I start by looking at the upper part, she is turning clockwise…?

hrmm interesting, I guess I’m right brained. I tried to see her spin anti-clockwise but can’t force it.

Great post! You can really change the direction by will.
Just try looking at the ankles and imagine it rotating to the other direction.

Now, that’s insane. I could only see her spinning clockwise and then, all of a sudden, she began to spin counter-clockwise. I’ve read that some neurologists do not accept the left-brain/right-brain theories…
